Is it ok to buy email marketing data?

This is a common question we’re asked by new and existing clients alike.

Even having a small, highly targeted list of prospects/ customers can be a great marketing asset. Things like keep-in-touch campaigns and special offers sent through an email broadcasting platform can provide the necessary ‘touches’ to keep an account ticking over and drive towards a sale. This also allows you to identify those pesky anonymous website visitors through CANDDi.

If you only have a small database or are completely new to email marketing, don’t worry.

The purchase of email marketing data when done correctly can provide some great results and it doesn’t have to cost the earth. Alternatively you can look to grow your own list organically collecting information from customers and prospects, feeding this into your email marketing pot and this will inevitably grow over time.

The process of purchasing data is 100% legal!

Ensure you choose a reputable list supplier, approved by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and always ask for written guarantees in terms of deliverability.

When considering purchase of a list it’s also worth noting you may have to double check with your email broadcasting system if you’re permitted to use this type of list. This should be accessible in their terms and conditions, but otherwise you’re likely to find the answer with a google search.
